Revisiting 'Zork': What We Lost in the Transition to Visual Games

article Text-based adventures were written as much as they were designed, employing tantalizing adjectives to create a sense of the world In my mind, the house is clapboard, with a black, precisely shingled roof and shutters in a bit of disrepair. The sky is always an intangible, faded blue, and the forest surrounding the clearing is dark green. In other words, it's always summer -- and hot, since I imagine the house surrounded by long, tan, untrampled grass. The front door is boarded -- I pictured some plywood, though I didn't think about it much. There's the mailbox: a standard issue, gunmetal-gray, Quonset-shaped affair, slightly askew on its pole. And in the mailbox, of course, is a leaflet. Zork was the first game I remember playing on my family's IBM PC, s... Read more

Are you geared up to play Dark Souls 3? The nature of the game has many players troubled as they find it difficult to beat the game bosses. One particular fight is with the Abyss Watchers, which are the remnants of the Farron knights. Beating this boss is critical as it will advance the story and these tips can help you get a better chance of winning.

The boss fight of Dark Souls 3 is divided into two phases. The first phase has players who are looking to go up against two sword-wielding enemies. It is better to run away from them to prevent attacks instead of rolling and focus on staying away from them. They should eventually bump into each other and start fighting among themselves. When one of them dies, it will be easy to pick on the other, but wait for the right opening before going in for the kill. Also, the ranged attacks can help you get rid of the remaining enemies easily and from a safer distance.

Coming to the second phase of the fight, fire-resistant armour does come in handy. It is due to the enemy's capability of varied fire attacks which can be deadly for the player. He has the ability to charge while spinning to create a circle of fire which can hit you if you are present in the radius. With his forward dash skill, he can leave a fire trail, so you will have to alter your tactics to roll sideways rather than forward. To handle the enemy easily, you can get the summons roaming around the area of Keep Rune & Farron Perimeter Bonfires, to the boss enemy. Once the boss is killed, you will receive two achievements i.e. Cinders of a Lord and Soul of Blood of the Wolf. You can then visit all NPCs at Firelink shrine to receive acknowledgement of your achievements.

With the tips and luck on your side, the Abyss Watchers fight can become a bit easier. Though it is still not an easy feat, those playing a mage class will have an easier way out.
Dark Souls 3 is known to be the fastest selling game in Bandai Namco history, and as players discover more about the series, the boss fights will get easier to manage without much frustration.
